The message reverberating from the Global Work Party is that people aroundthe world are taking action on climate change and demanding that theirgovernments join them.

"We need to figure out a way to get our politicians to work," 350.org founder Bill McKibben told the LA Times in a phone interview. "We figured one way would be to get to work ourselves, to kind of provide the model, and so all overthe world people will be doing very useful things in their community."

According to McKibben, the movement needs to race ahead more quickly than thecrisis itself — and pull the politicians along with them.

Citizens are driving solutions to climate change within their own communities, and encouraging political leaders to get to work themselves.

Bydemonstrating a willingness to take action, the Global Work Party issued a challenge to world leaders. Wherever they are and however they getinvolved, people around the world are demanding that governments signtreaties, pass legislation and enact regulations that meaningfullyaddress climate change.
